I had my baby shower on Sunday and had such a great time! Thanks to Jen and Jess for being such great hosts and throwing a great party! And thanks to my mom as well for preparing some awesome food. It was so great to see all my friends and family and play some fun games. One of the games we played was guess the baby's sex based on old wives tales. Girl won by a slim margin so we’ll see how accurate those tales are! Ryan and I received so many wonderful gifts for Baby Springer and I can’t wait to start putting everything together and start organizing the baby’s room. Here are some pictures from the shower.

28 weeks
Last weekend I finished my 28th week. Not much new to report here except that I am now experiencing all the joys of the third trimester – difficulty sleeping and lots of heartburn! Hopefully the old wives tale is true and that means our baby will be born with lots of hair :). We are heading back to Iowa this weekend for Iowa State’s homecoming and are looking forward to seeing all of our friends and family.

Prediction
I found this online the other day and thought it was pretty funny. I guess we’ll see how accurate she is!
Madame Zaritska, our resident clairvoyant, wants to help you prepare for the arrival of your child. Here she does her best to predict certain aspects of your labor and birth experience.
What she senses for you
The day you deliver, outside will be overcast. Your baby will arrive at night.
After a labor lasting approximately 9 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 7 pounds, 9 ounces, and will be 22 inches long. This child will have green eyes and some very fine hair.

26 weeks!
Not much has changed here except for the size of my belly! We had a doctor’s appt on Monday and I was tested for Gestational Diabetes and everything came back normal so no worries there. Ryan and I have made progress on the baby’s room. It’s been painted and we have the crib and changing table/dresser set up. As soon as we get all the other pieces I’ll post pictures on here for everyone to see. The baby is very active now and I can feel it kicking and moving all throughout the day. I can’t believe that I will be starting the third trimester next week and will now be seeing the doctor every two weeks until 36 weeks. Enjoy the new belly pics!

23 weeks

We had our fifth ultrasound on Friday. It was great to get to see the baby again and see how much it has grown. Everything still looks great and I am still on target for my due date. I included a profile picture from our latest ultrasound! I also finally just got my lab results back and I was negative for the factor 5 gene and everything else came back normal so that was a relief. We got to see and hold Avrie this past weekend and she is adorable. Such a good baby! Please continue to say your prayers for Jen as she is still in the hospital recovering and dealing with complications due to her blood clots.

20 weeks!
I finished my 20th week last weekend and can’t believe that I’m already past the half way mark. It’s gone really fast and pretty smoothly so far. I am now feeling the baby move throughout the day. I think Ryan is looking forward to when he can actually feel the baby move/kick himself. We have another ultrasound next week so hopefully we’ll get some more good pictures that we can post on the website. Due to Jen’s condition I got tested last week for the factor 5 gene to see if I need to be concerned with blood clots as well. We are still waiting on the results. Hopefully they will come back either the end of this week or early next week and everything will be negative. Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend. Ryan and I are looking forward to the first Iowa State football game!!
