Lincoln - 2 months old

Wow, it’s hard to believe that Lincoln is already two months old and that I have about 2 ½ weeks of maternity leave left.  I’m definitely not ready to go back to work yet L.  This past month has been a challenging one to say the least.  I thought the third was supposed to be the easy going, laid back baby but unfortunately Lincoln has proved that theory wrong.  Hopefully he will be the easy going laid back toddler J.  At least I can say that things do seem to be improving but we’ve had some challenges with sleeping.  He doesn’t sleep that great at night due to gas which causes him to wake more frequently and be fussier than normal so I typically don’t get more than a 2-3 hour stretch of sleep at a time if I’m luckily.  He’s also gone through a fun phase of fighting sleep so it was taking over an hour of rocking and walking the halls with him just to get him to finally go to sleep and then after laying him down he would immediately wake up and we would have to start all over.  Or he would only sleep if I was holding him which didn’t really allow me to catch up on any missed sleep or allow me to get anything done around the house.  The other bummer is that he doesn’t really love his car seat.  I was really looking forward to enjoying the nice fall weather by going on lots of long walks around the neighborhood but we tried it a couple of times and they ended pretty quickly because he would just cry.  I’m hoping this will change as he gets older.

The one big accomplishment this month is that he will now drink out of a bottle.  We had to go buy a new brand but I am so thankful that we got that done, one less stressor for my return to work.  He is also smiling and cooing all the time which is just adorable and makes you forget how tired and frustrated you might be.  He is much more alert now and loves being held facing out so he can look around and see what’s going on and will smile when he hears his brothers talking to him.  We had his doctor’s appointment yesterday and he is a growing boy.  He was up to 12 lbs 6 ozs (65%) and was 22.8 inches long (42%).  He’s finally moved up to the 3 month clothing and moved out of the newborn diapers.  He is such an adorable little guy and we all just love him to pieces!

Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend I took Gavin and Wyatt to the pumpkin patch outside of Earlham with my parents and Jen and her kids.  Although it was a little chilly the boys had a blast playing with their cousins and it was nice to get out of the house for a little bit.  They each picked out the biggest pumpkins they could find and can't wait to carve them this coming weekend.

Soccer

The boys just finished the fall session of soccer with Happy Feet and had a great time.  They had a 2 year old league so even Wyatt got to participate and he loved getting to play like Gavin.  Below are a few pictures/videos that I captured on my phone.

The boys lately

Some random pictures of the boys lately.

Our attempt at a sleepover while daddy was gone.  Gavin was so excited but Wyatt wasn't having it.  He wouldn't stay in his room so it lasted about 5 minutes.

Playing downstairs and making lots of messes with the toys and Wyatt's silly face.

Being silly and having a dance party.

Gavin - 4 1/2

I've been meaning to write this post for a while but I haven’t had much downtime lately with Mr. Lincoln.  Gavin has grown up so much and it’s hard to believe that he is going to be five in a few months and starting kindergarten next year.  He is so smart and amazes me each day with how much he knows.  He’s really good at math and knows how to write his name and is working on writing all of his letters.   He is all boy and loves digging in the dirt and searching for treasures and bugs.  He’s your guy if you find a spider or bug in the house that needs to be killed or caught J.

Gavin is the sweetest boy and does such a great job with both of his brothers.  He will even help talk Wyatt into doing things we've requested if he’s not listening to us which is a great help and will go and fetch things for Lincoln if I need them and is great at picking up his toys.  He definitely has his off days as well where he doesn't want to listen to anything we say and won’t do anything we ask.  We’re working with him on that and working on good ways to express our anger.  He’s gotten much better at using his words to express when he’s upset either with us or Wyatt vs. just screaming at the top of his lungs and throwing a huge fit although his new thing now is to tell us that we are so mean if we make him do something he doesn't want to or if we put him in time out for something.

Gavin does a great job of playing with Wyatt although we have to keep an eye on them because he’s also great at convincing Wyatt to do things he’s not supposed to.  Poor Lincoln won’t have a chance with two older brothers getting him to do their dirty work J.  He still loves superheroes and is getting into Star Wars and Ninjago as well.  He loves to build and can build amazing buildings and castles with our Magnatiles and loves to color and prides himself on being able to color within the lines.  He is so good about independent play and has a huge imagination.  Give him a few items and he could sit and play for hours entertaining himself which I love.
