Boys last weekend in KC

It’s hard to believe that this weekend was the boys last weekend in Kansas City. It definitely started to hit me on Friday for the boys last day at school when I had to hold back tears thanking all their teachers and saying good-bye. I really hope we end up loving their new school as much as their current one. We tried to do some fun things this weekend since we knew it would be the last. We spent lots of time at the pool on Saturday and although it wasn’t as nice on Sunday we were able to swim for a little bit today too. Gavin came a long way from when we first got there where he wouldn’t go anywhere near the big pool to swimming from one end to the other by himself. He was so proud of himself but it only took a little girl to finally get him to try it lol. Wyatt was floating in the big pool with his life jacket but Gavin still refused to let go of Ryan when this little girl was like your brother is 2 and you are 4 it should be much easier for you. After that he decided to give it a try and like most things ended up loving it and didn’t want to leave the pool lol. If only it wasn’t quite so hard to get him to try new things all the time :).

On Saturday night we headed to the legends for a little shopping and took the boys to the T-Rex cafĂ© for dinner. They had a lot of fun watching all the dino’s and taking in the sights.

I got a little emotional again this afternoon thinking that this really was the last time they would ever be in this house. We took a few pictures of them outside the house and then packed them into Ryan’s car to head up to Iowa. I stayed behind to get everything all packed up and then Ryan will be back on Thursday night for the big moving day on Friday. It’s hard to believe I only have 5 more days left in KC.

Little Stinker

Can you believe this cute little face has turned into such a little stinker?!?!?  His latest maneuver… removing his diaper.  Saturday night we put Wyatt to bed and a little while later I heard him kind of crying so I went in there and noticed that he got his foot somewhat stuck in the side of the crib which I think he does on purpose when he doesn’t want to go to sleep.  I got his foot out and looked down to see a completely naked little boy from the waist down.   Guess it was a good thing I went in there because he had removed his pajama pants and completely took off his diaper and was just lying there with a goofy grin.  Then I went into his room to get him out of bed this morning and same thing.  He had taken off his pants and removed his diaper. He was not wanting to settle down in bed tonight and I also caught him mid act of trying to remove his diaper again.  It’s amazing how different kids are as Gavin never once tried to take off his diaper.  We’re hoping once we get moved and settled into the new house we can start focusing on potty training because I think he’s ready.  Tonight I ended up putting a pair of Gavin’s old undies over his pj’s to see if that will keep his pants on.  Here’s to hoping we can make it a few more weeks without any crazy accidents J.

Happy Father's Day!

The boys and I are so lucky to have such an amazing and involved husband/daddy and we have definitely been missing him during the week! We had a great weekend just lounging at home. On Saturday we went out to breakfast and the chocolate chip pancakes were quite the hit.

Daddy got some good one-on-one time with the boys while I snuck away for a prenatal massage (finally got to take advantage of my mother’s day gift) and did some packing (finally making some progress!!).

On Sunday Gavin and Ryan went to see a movie while Wyatt napped and then we have some relaxing play time at the pool and yummy pizza for dinner. At dinner I asked Gavin what he loved best about Daddy and he said because he’s my superhero and I asked him what his favorite thing to do with daddy and he said play tackle and baseball :).

We’re always sad to see Ryan go but luckily only one more week on my own and then Ryan takes the boys back with him next weekend so I can spend the evenings dedicated to packing. It’s hard to believe we only have 2 more weeks in KC!

Baseball

We needed something fun to do today to get out of the house while we were having a showing so at the last minute we decided to head to the Royals game.  Ryan was able to get us some great tickets for cheap online and the boys had a blast.  They had so much fun and did much better than last year and actually watched several innings from our seats before we decided to get up and wonder around the outfield.  They loved getting sprayed by the fountains and playing in the playground.  We headed out a little early because we could tell they were getting tired but celebrated with some ice cream before heading out.  We thought they would both crash in the car on the drive home especially Wyatt since he didn't really get a nap but instead they were almost slap happy and super loud and goofy in the car.  Thankfully we had some chill time at home before Ryan had to hit the road and I was able to get the both in bed and sleeping by 7:30 which is pretty unusual these days.  Here's to hoping this week goes fast :).

Pool

We finally got to enjoy our pool for the first time this summer.  The water was a little cold still but the boys loved it and i managed to get a nice little sunburn.  We're hoping we can continue to take advantage of the pool as much as possible over the next 3 weekends before we move.  We are really going to miss the convenience of having such a great pool in the neighborhood!

Memorial Day Weekend

We enjoyed the long weekend by just relaxing at home. It was so nice to have a holiday weekend with no showings so we really could just relax in our house and not worry about having to keep it clean and staged every second. Ryan came down and was able to stay through Sunday morning so we hung out at home with him and then took the boys to a fun park in Shawnee which they loved.

After Ryan left I tried to keep the boys busy and entertained with lots of walks around the neighborhood, playing with chalk and bubbles, crafts at home and more park trips. It was a little exhausting by the end for me but fun to get to spend some extra time with the boys and other than a little rain Monday morning the weather was gorgeous.

Two peas in a pod :)
