Birthday Party!

Gavin has been talking about and planning his birthday forever so we decided that this year would be a good time to have his first party with friends.  We knew he wanted a Spiderman/superhero party and that there was no way we could do it at our house so we started to look for places and found a fun bounce house that also did themed parties.  I was a little nervous about how it would all go.  How Gavin would be with all the kids, if he would include all the kids or just play with certain friends, if he would listen/get super wild, would anyone come etc.  We had about half of his class RSVP which ended up being the perfect amount and honestly it couldn’t have gone better.  The place had two rooms where the kids each spent 30 minutes playing in the bounce houses and going down the slides, then they had 30 minutes of superhero training where Ryan graciously volunteered to be the bad guy and then we ended with cake and presents.  The two hours went really fast.  I think all of the kids had fun and they all played together which was amazing.  Gavin got some really fun gifts and some really cool birthday cards.

Sunday was Gavin’s actual birthday and I was going to surprise him with balloons in his room before he woke up be he got up way too early so we ended up surprising him with them in the kitchen.  We let Gavin open his presents from us that morning and then had yummy donuts for breakfast.  The rest of the day we just hung out at home and had some quiet time which was nice until 3 when Gavin had his first soccer practice (more to come on that.)  Overall I think he had a great birthday.  Thankfully he hasn’t started planning for next year yet J.  Now on to Wyatt’s birthday celebrations. 

Happy 4th Birthday Gavin

Happy 4th birthday to my sweet and spunky little boy! We just love you to pieces!! It’s hard to believe Gavin is already four although he has been waiting for this day for a long time and planning his party since probably this summer if not before (more to come on his party).

What is Gavin into and what are his favorites. Gavin in very creative and loves imaginative play. Pretty much every night he is inventing a new game to play or inventing some new superhero or villain that he can battle with dad.

He loves building castles and towers and can create some pretty cool things. It gets a little tough when Wyatt’s around though because he wants to be doing what his brother is which sometimes leads to creations getting destroyed but he’s getting much better about saying oh well let’s build a new one when that happens.

He is very smart and does a great job with critical thinking. He loves putting together puzzles and got several new puzzles for his birthday/xmas which he loves. He is always thinking and asking good questions and still has an amazing memory like his daddy.

Unfortunately the thing he gets from his mom is his sweet tooth. Gavin loves desserts. We definitely try to limit it but this kid will give anything for a dessert and you have to be careful if we are anywhere that might have any type of a dessert table in reach as his been known to sneak 2 or 3 or 4 treats from the table. I even asked him whether he wanted to bring cupcakes or ice cream to school for his birthday treat and he asked which has more sugar. I couldn’t believe it lol!

He loves his little brother! Although they definitely have their moments where it’s more fighting than loving he is really working on trying to be a good role model and teaching his brother good manners and good words although all of Wyatt’s bad manners and ‘bad’ words mostly come from him as well. It’s amazing that they are 2 & 4 and already obsessed with poop and toots. I guess it’s just a boy thing engrained in their brains.
