23 weeks

We had our fifth ultrasound on Friday. It was great to get to see the baby again and see how much it has grown. Everything still looks great and I am still on target for my due date. I included a profile picture from our latest ultrasound! I also finally just got my lab results back and I was negative for the factor 5 gene and everything else came back normal so that was a relief. We got to see and hold Avrie this past weekend and she is adorable. Such a good baby! Please continue to say your prayers for Jen as she is still in the hospital recovering and dealing with complications due to her blood clots.

Welcome Avrie Lynn!

Jen just had her baby!! Avrie Lynn - 8lbs and 11 ounces. Sounds like both mom and baby are doing well. We can't wait to meet her on Friday!

20 weeks!

I finished my 20th week last weekend and can’t believe that I’m already past the half way mark. It’s gone really fast and pretty smoothly so far. I am now feeling the baby move throughout the day. I think Ryan is looking forward to when he can actually feel the baby move/kick himself. We have another ultrasound next week so hopefully we’ll get some more good pictures that we can post on the website. Due to Jen’s condition I got tested last week for the factor 5 gene to see if I need to be concerned with blood clots as well. We are still waiting on the results. Hopefully they will come back either the end of this week or early next week and everything will be negative. Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend. Ryan and I are looking forward to the first Iowa State football game!!

17 weeks

Ryan and I took a mini vacation to LA over the weekend to visit some friends. We had a great time! The weather was amazing and Ryan tried surfing for the first time. We also celebrated our 2 year anniversary on Tuesday. Everything is still going well with me. Probably the biggest change is in my belly. I’m actually starting to look pregnant now. I’m looking forward to when I can actually feel the baby moving which will hopefully be in the next few weeks. Enjoy the belly picture.

New Pictures!

Nicole had another ultrasound today. We saw the heart, the spine, the kidneys, arms, legs, feet, and hands. It’s a good thing we didn’t want to find out the sex, because Scipio is one modest baby and had his/her legs crossed the whole time. Everything is looking great and the baby is looking less and less like an alien. Check out the pic above to see baby Scipio waving to everyone. Those are some strong looking fingers! The ultrasound lady said he/she was going to be an athlete because of the strong spine. Future Cyclone quarterback for sure. (FYI - I will be calling the baby Scipio in all posts b/c that is an awesome name and Nicole won’t let me use it for real.)

14 weeks

We had our 14th week checkup on Monday and so far everything is going well. I got to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time through the Doppler which was exciting. I’m so glad to finally have my energy back. I feel like a whole new person now that I am actually able to make it past 9pm! Not much change in the belly yet although my clothes are getting tighter and tighter so I feel like maternity clothes are not far off. I’ve tasked Ryan with staining our deck this weekend so we’ll see how that goes!

Happy 4th of July!

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Ryan and I had a busy weekend helping my Mom campaign. Between the two of us we walked in 6 different parades in Creston, Lamoni, Kellerton, Leon, Clearfield and Villisca. We had a big group with us so we split up to ensure we could cover all of the parades and overall my mom was represented in 9 different parades in her district. Although it was an exhausting day we definitely had a lot of fun doing it and Ryan got to experience small town Iowa for the first time. We have our 14th week checkup on Monday so we’ll post another update afterwards to let you know how everything went.
