We are finally moving back to Iowa! We always knew we would one of these days to be closer to family and not have to travel every single holiday but never quite knew when it would happen. We thought it would be good to try and move before Gavin started kindergarten but always said that Ryan would have to find a new job first since it would be easier for me to find something if needed. Well it has been quite the long drawn out process that started back in November with interviews for several different positions that spanned several months. We were basically ready to give up when he finally found out towards the end of March that he got the job. We shared the news with our families over Easter and the craziness began. Ryan's parents came down the next weekend to help us move a bunch of stuff into storage so we could get our house ready to be put on the market and after getting our windows cleaned, the house cleaned, our deck stained and the basement painted we were finally ready. Our house has been on the market a little over a month now and we are praying that it sells soon! Ryan actually moved back up to Des Moines two weeks ago to start his new job and the boys and I will stay in Kansas City until the end of June. The boys have actually been amazing but boy are we ready for the weekend and for daddy to come back home. This momma is exhausted after taking care of two boys all week, keeping the house staged and being 7 months pregnant. Let's just say I am counting down the days until the bog move but at the same time my to do list grows bigger and bigger each day as we approach our move. We've never really had to move before other than from a small apartment so it's been a little stressful trying to figure out if we are going to use movers and if so which ones, how to time everything so that I can be here for them to pack up and then make it up to Iowa in time for our closing and not have our stuff arrive before then and thinking about all the stuff we need to transfer since we are moving out of state. Trying not to ge overwhelmed by all the stuff we have to pack and trying to pack and trying to determine the best way to start packing since we have to leave our house staged for as long as we can until it sells. I know it will all work out and our house will sell eventually but i can definitely say that I hope to never do this again anytime soon. Five more weeks but whose counting :).

The boys lately
We have been super busy lately with lots of traveling so not much time to update the blog and i've been awful about taking my camera anywhere but here are some pictures/videos of the boys lately from my phone.
Wyatt singing. I wish i could have recorded him watching this video because it was so funny. Everytime he heard himself sing the toucan song he died laughing. Must be an inside joke lol.
Gavin had to get in on the fun :)

Anatomy Scan and Gender Reveal
I am officially 20 weeks (halfway yay!) and my belly has definitely popped out :). We had our anatomy scan last week and so far everything looks great with the baby. She wasn’t able to get a good measurement of the stomach so we will get another one at our next visit but they said not to worry the baby just hadn’t eaten enough yet for good measurements.
We were also able to find out the gender and able to share the news with the boys and my family. We decided that it would be fun to make cupcakes and revel the gender inside with colored icing and let Gavin take the first bite. He was so funny because usually he just digs into desserts but I think all the attention made him nervous and then he kept thinking the rainbow chips were the color so he wasn’t biting in much. Finally Jess just broke the cupcake to reveal the news.
The boys are very excited to be getting a little brother in August :). We can't wait to see if he will look like Gavin or Wyatt.

Easter Activites
Here’s some of our pictures showing what we’ve been up to lately. Lots of fun Easter activities including coloring eggs, egg hunt at my work, Easter gifts and an Easter egg hunt at my parent’s. We’ve also had fun enjoying a few of the really nice days lately by enjoying dinner at the park and going on walks/bike rides. Really hoping this nice weather is here to stay!!

Singing Machine
Lately Wyatt has turned into a singing machine. I think his new Elmo Songs movie has really peaked his interest in singing songs but every day on the way to and from school he wants to sing songs. He has lots of songs but some of his favorites are Twinkle Twinkle, ABC’s and Elmo’s song which he usually sings for all the sesame street characters. I need to try and get him on film singing but was able to capture some sneaky filming of him from his monitor (see below). Lately he’s been lying in bed at night sometimes for up to 30 minutes just singing away.

Dentist
Gavin had his second visit to the Dentist today and he did amazing! Such a big boy! I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but he did great. Still wanted me to come back with him which I expected but he sat in the dentist chair for the first time and actually got his teeth cleaned and flossed with all the tools. The dentist and hygienist were amazing and made him feel so comfortable and we got a great report on his teeth. He got to pick out a special prize at the end and a new toothbrush and then I took him for a special treat before heading to school for being so brave.
On a side note ever since Wyatt heard me tell Gavin over the weekend that he was going to the dentist he has been obsessed with wanting to go to the dentist. To the point where he was even throwing a fit because he wanted to put his shoes on and go immediately. I tried to explain to him what the dentist means but it doesn’t seem like he got it. I would love to know what he thinks ‘going to the dentist’ means as it is a huge struggle right now to get him to brush his teeth. We basically have to hold him down and force him to let us do it while he screams, so no fun for any of us. So I know he does not really want to go to the dentist but this kid is adamant. He event woke up at 5:30 yesterday morning asking about going to the dentist and it was the first thing he said again this morning lol. I thought about bringing him along with Gavin so he could see what the trip was all about but decided against it because I wasn’t sure how Gavin would handle it and thought it might be a little tough dealing with him and Wyatt.

Crazy Night
So we had somewhat of a traumatic first last night. Gavin was acting pretty tired last night when he got home from school and just wanted to lay down which is pretty rare for this kid. His nose was pretty runny and right before bed he felt really warm so we gave him a little motrin hoping he wasn’t coming down with anything. He woke up around 10:30 kind of crying a little bit with some coughs and I could tell on the monitor that he kept wiping his nose so Ryan went in with some Kleenexes and a glass of water to hopefully settle him back down. The next thing I hear is a frantic Nicole so I come running down the hall and see the poor boy covered in blood everywhere. Apparently he had got a bloody nose and it was honestly the worst I had ever seen. This poor kid was still half asleep as Ryan and I are freaking out trying to determine what to do with him while blood is gushing out of both his nostrils. Finally we picked him up and took him to our bathroom so we didn’t wake up Wyatt. We ended up calling the on-call nurse because his nose just would not stop and it was really freaking us out that it was just gushing out of both sides for about 15 minutes. I think when it comes to your kids you always panic and don’t want to underestimate anything. Luckily we finally got it to slow down and got some good tips from the nurse if it was to happen again. We didn’t want to put him back to bed until it had stopped completely which was around midnight poor guy! Ryan ended up sleeping in his room for a couple of hours just to make sure it didn’t happen again since the nurse said it would possibly happen several more times. Thank goodness it didn’t because the next step would be to hold his nose closed for 10 minutes straight and if that didn’t work and it kept happening to bring him in. I think we’re both hoping that that never happens again but at least if it does we know what to do at this point and thankfully Wyatt slept through the entire ordeal.
Although speaking of Wyatt, he decided that Gavin couldn’t get all the attention last night and decided to wake up around 3am shouting for Diego from his room. After a couple minutes of not calming down I decided to go in there because I was afraid he would wake Gavin up. Usually he’s really good if he wakes up and gets upset you can go in there and get him settled back down pretty quickly but lately he’s been really fighting bedtime and there was just no reasoning with this two year old. He kept requesting Diego which he is recently obsessed with. It’s pretty hard to make a 2 year old understand that he can’t watch Diego at 3 am in the morning. I tried everything to lull him back to sleep: singing a song, playing music, cuddling with his blanket, rocking and everything I tried he just said no signing, no music, no blanket, no rocking.. he’s become quite demanding these days. Finally I resorted to bribery because I was out of options and really wanted to get back to bed. I told him that if he went to bed he could have a special treat in the morning hoping that he would forget all about it. Well that worked and he reach right for bed and thankfully we didn’t hear a peep out of him until a little before 6 but of course the first thing out of his mouth this morning was treat. I guess there’s no fooling this kid!
Here's to hoping tonight has a little less drama :).
