First Trip to the Zoo

We enjoyed the great weather this weekend and took Gavin on his first trip to the zoo. He really enjoyed looking at all the people and animals especially the big elephants. Check out the pictures from our trip. I think we wore him out because as soon as we got into the car to head home he was fast asleep.

Baptism

We had such a special weekend. All of our family was in town for Gavin's baptism. He did such a great job during the ceremony on Saturday and we want to thank all of our family for making the trek down here to celebrate with him during his special day. Thanks also to Jen and Jason for being his god parents. Enjoy the pictures from the weekend.

Happy 7 months Gavin!

Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s already been 7 months! Gavin is at such a fun age right now. It seems like he is changing and learning something new every day which is so fun to see and watch him grow. He is such a happy baby and smiles and laughs all the time. Below are some fun stats:
-can sit up by himself and reaches for everything around him
-has his first tooth (bottom on the right) and is starting to get a second one on the bottom
-loves eating baby food especially veggies. I thought for sure he would hate green beans since he has liked everything else and have heard this is the worst but he loved them. We are so thankful that he is such a good eater as you can tell in those chunky thighs :)
-can roll over both ways and doesn’t stay on his stomach for long now that he knows how to roll back over to his back
-loves bath time and splashes like crazy. Ryan and I usually get soaked in the process.
-Talks all the time and says da-da really well. We’re still working on ma-ma.
-Loves blowing raspberries
-Loves his jumparoo. It is so funny to watch him jump because the way he kicks his legs/jumps makes it look like he’s practicing for RiverDance lol.

Enjoy the new pictures from the last couple of weeks. There are a few from the surprise birthday party we threw my mom a few weeks ago. We all had fun with the 70’s theme! This weekend we are looking forward to having family down for Gavin’s baptism.

Thanks for checking in!

6 month check up

We had Gavin's 6 month check up this afternoon. He is still growing like crazy as i'm sure you can tell from all the pictures! He was 22.2 lbs and 29 inches long which are both in the 95th percentile for his age. What a big boy! We've been busy since our last post. Last weekend my parents came down to visit and brought Avrie along with them. It was great to see them and hear all about their trip to Africa and it was so cute to see Gavin and Avrie play together. It's crazy to see how much Avrie has grown and hard to believe she will be 1 soon. This past weekend we headed to Minneapolis for Addison's baptism. It was a long trip but thankfully Gavin did great in the car. It was great to see Derek, Jenny and Will and to finally meet Addison. She is so adorable and we feel truely blessed to be her godparents. It was also nice to see all the aunts, uncles and cousins that live in MN and this was the first time most of them got to meet Gavin. The only bad part was that the trip was too short. Enjoy the new pictures!

Happy 6 months Gavin!

It's hard to believe today is Gavin's 6 month b-day!! Gavin had a big first yesterday when we took him swimming for the first time. I think he had fun although he wasn't quite sure what to think of it at first. He was a little tired so he didn't get too wild but loved when Ryan pulled him around in the water. He's still working on the whole rolling over thing but has rolled over from his tummy to his back several times and i was able to capture one of them on video! I've also added some new pictures to the 6 months folder in the Picasa link so you can check out how big he's getting!

Rolling over:

Happy 4th of July!

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! We had a great weekend in Iowa. On Friday morning Ryan and I got a new car. We are very excited to finally have an SUV! Then we spent the rest of the day at Jen and Jason's and Gavin got to play with his cousin Avrie and we also got to see Jess and some other friends. On Saturday we took Gavin to his first parade in Urbandale. He did a great job. Got startled a few times by the firetrucks and police cars but other than that loved looking around and taking everything in. Saturday night Ryan and I were able to sneak away and see a movie and then got home in time to catch some fireworks. Gavin was up to catch a few of them and we were surprised that the noise didn't bother him at all. My cousin Megan and her husband Doug welcomed little Jack Douglas on the 4th as well. Congratulations to both of them and we can't wait to see pictures and meet the little guy! Tonight Gavin tried his first real baby food sweet peas and loved them! It's going to be fun to see how he does with all the other foods. It's hard to believe that he is going to be 6 months in a week! Enjoy the new pictures.

5 months!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe Gavin is 5 months old today!! He’s been a busy boy! We’ve been practicing sitting up and look forward to meeting that milestone. He doesn’t have much interest in rolling over right now but is starting to bring his legs up when on his tummy and scootches around so we’re wondering if he’ll just skip rolling over and go straight to crawling! We bought him a jumper the other week and although he hasn’t quite figured out how to jump on his own yet he loves having you bounce him in it. He is quite the talker now and started saying da-da a couple of weeks ago. Lately his favorite time to chat is early in the morning which is hard for mommy and daddy when we want to sleep but also too cute to ignore! I keep trying to get a video of him chatting away but every time the camera gets close he stops and just stares at the camera in amazement. One big milestone is that Gavin tried cereal for the first time today. He did a great job and was very interested in this new food and loved sitting in his high chair. I included a video below of him trying it for the first time and some new pictures of the last few weeks.
