Lake Red Rock

We officially survived our first vacation as a family of 6 J.  I think it helped that it was a quick trip, two days and one night at Lake Red Rock with my family.  The boys had a blast playing with their cousins and Ainsley was amazing throughout the entire trip.  We rented campers for the night and the older kids slept with Grandma and Papa and we had Lincoln and Ainsley with us in our camper.  I was really worried about how the night would go with Ainsley.  Apparently we wore her out that day because she had the best sleep ever and slept from 10:30 until 4 and then ate and went back to sleep until 6.  Here’s to hoping we get some more of those longer stretches of sleep in the near future!

The boys loved swimming at the beach and playing with the sand.  We had a park right next to our lots which was great entertainment while we were cooking or just hanging out around the campers.  They loved walking along the Des Moines river and riding down it in Papa’s boat and eating s’mores.  Overall it was a great trip and I think nice that it was short for our first one.

Ainsley – One month old

I just can’t believe Ainsley is already a month old.  It’s hard to believe we’ve already survived one whole month with four kids J.  It’s gone really fast and she’s actually be a really good baby so far.  Let’s hope she keeps it up.  It seems like she is growing like crazy so I’ll be anxious to see how much she weights at her 2 month appointment.  We’ve had a few rough nights of sleep where she’s had some issues with gas but for the most part she seems to give me 2-3 hour stretches of sleep and a few times has gone 4 hours.  She’s mainly sleeping in her little chair right now so I’m hoping to start transitioning her to the cradle this week.  She’s a much better napper than Lincoln was at this stage so hopefully that will keep up but she does prefer to be held.  I’ve seen a few smiles in the last few days which are so adorable and she seems to be getting more alert each day and more interested in the world around her.  We look forward to seeing how she changes and grows over the next month.

Wyatt T-ball

Wyatt just finished his last game of t-ball last night.  He had such a fun time playing this year and is already asking when he gets to play with coaches pitch J.  It was a little different going from watching Gavin’s age play to the 4 year olds but they all had so much fun practicing hitting the ball and running the bases.  We really lucked out and had beautiful weather for his last game and it was a great introduction for him to the sport.  Sounds like we’ll be signing him up again next year!

Happy 4th of July

We had a great fourth of July this year and lucked out with amazing weather in the high 70’s, low 80’s.  Ryan took the boys to the parade in the morning and they scored big time with way too much candy J.  Then we had family over to our house for dinner and fireworks.  The kids played in the new pool, ran around the house catching firefly’s and playing games, played with sparklers and then watched the fireworks show.  It was a late night but everyone had a lot of fun and Ainsley did amazing with all the commotion.  All the boys made it to the very end even Lincoln who decided to skip his nap that day.  This was his first time watching the fireworks and he loved it. The boys had a great time playing with their cousins and the girls loved getting to meet and hold Ainsley for the first time.
