Dr's Appt.

We just got back from the doctor’s office and I didn’t exactly get the news I was hoping for. My dilation is progressing which is good and I am now between a 3 and 4 but not having regular contractions to actually put me into labor. I was hoping that if I didn’t go into labor by Sunday that we could just schedule a time to be induced next week but they are really hesitant on inducing prior to 41 weeks unless there is a good reason for it so if I’m still pregnant I have an appointment scheduled for Monday morning to do a non stress test and ultrasound and then based on those results they will decide what the plan is. My doctor is on call Tuesday so hopefully we can just plan on being induced on the 13th and not have to wait another week. My doctor estimated that the baby is probably around 7 ½ - 8 pounds which is a little scary especially if I end up having to wait another week and a half. I guess we’ll see. Hopefully my contractions will pick up and we can have a baby this weekend :).

39 weeks!

I thought I would post an update since we’ve had several people ask if there’s any baby news. Unfortunately I’m still pregnant. We were really hoping the baby would come sometime over the weekend but no luck. I think the doctor just got our hopes up by making us think it would come early so now the waiting is killing us! I am definitely to the point where I am ready to not be pregnant anymore. It’s hard to get comfortable with this big belly and I pretty much don’t sleep much anymore between the million bathroom breaks and lovely hip pain. I’m definitely also getting tired of all of the attention I’m getting everywhere I go :). It seems like everyone either has to stare or make some sort of comment. The other day Ryan and I were at Nebraska Furniture Mart and were looking at an Iowa State bean bag chair when a man walked up to him and said I just have to give you a high five. Ryan said oh are you a cyclone fan too and he said no for her and pointed to me and said nice work I’m proud of you. How embarrassing!! Then we were walking into Best Buy and some guy behind us was like are we going to be having a baby in this store?!?! I told Ryan apparently I just need to be locked up in our house because I draw too much attention when I go anywhere in public :). The joys of being pregnant and about to pop!

On a side note Ryan and I were able to enjoy the nice weather we had here on Saturday and took advantage of our time by going out to dinner and to a movie since it will probably be awhile before we will be able to do that again. We saw Slumdog Millionaire which is a great movie. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to see a drama. I have another doctor’s appointment on Wednesday so hopefully we will have a better idea of what the plan will be if I don’t go into labor by Sunday which is my due date.

The countdown is on…

38 weeks

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. Ryan and I definitely did! I had the entire week off of work which allowed me to get some things done around the house. I was dreading going back to work today after all the time off but both Ryan and I have a shortened week this week as well so that helps. I had my doctor’s appointment this afternoon and am dilated to a 3 and 80% effaced. The doctor said that the baby could come at any time and that basically now all I need is my water to break or to start having regular contractions to put me in labor. Ryan seems to think that the baby is going to come tonight so he’s been running around the house getting things ready. We would both love to have this baby come sooner rather than later but I have a feeling I may still have a little while. I guess we’ll see. If anything only 2 more weeks until my due date so at least there is an end in sight.

1000 geese but no stork yet (36 weeks!)

As you can tell from the picture above the geese in KC seem to be a little confused since they haven’t flown south yet. This is the pond across from our house and Ryan and I can’t believe how many geese have inhabited the pond over the weekend. It reminds us of the scene from the Wizard of Oz except that instead of flying monkeys they’re geese :).

A lot has happened since our last post. We were in Iowa for Thanksgiving and got to see all of our family which was great since we will be unable to travel home for Christmas. We are getting more and more ready for this baby to come every day. We’ve finished taking all of our classes and even pre-registered at the hospital. I’ve started getting my bag and the baby’s bag ready for the big day and we have plans to get our car seat installed and checked either this week or next.

The baby has grown quite a bit since my last post as you can see in my belly picture. The baby should be around 6 pounds now and after this week will be considered full term. I had my doctor’s appointment today and everything is looking good. I found out that I’m already dilated to a 2 which means that I’m definitely making progress in the right direction. We’ll see if I’ve made any further progress next week. I think I’m getting to the point where I’m ready to be done with this pregnancy and ready to meet this baby so hopefully it will decide to come join us sooner rather than later.

Baby's Room

We finally got the baby's room put together for the most part. It's a pretty small room but luckily we were able to get everything to fit and I think it turned out cute. If you click on the link below you can view some more photo's.

32 weeks and counting...

Not much has changed here except the size of my belly! The baby has been very active and now that it’s bigger the movements and kicks/punches are much stronger. Ryan and I had our childbirth preparation class all day last Saturday. We learned lots of good information although I’m not sure if it made me feel better or more nervous for what’s to come :). We did get a tour of the hospital though which was nice and I really enjoyed the stations during our class because Ryan got to practice all the massage techniques on me to help relieve pain so that was fun. My team at work threw me a surprise baby shower on Wednesday which was fun and we got some really great gifts for Baby Springer including some very cute personalized onesies. My mom and sister came down to visit this weekend and we were able to get a good chunk of our Christmas shopping done. I had a dr’s appt today and everything looks good. She said I was measuring on the big side of normal which was fine and that that baby’s head is down however it probably won’t be in the exact position until closer to 36 weeks. Ryan and I have our Newborn care class next week. I’m looking forward to that and seeing Ryan put on a diaper for the first time!

Grandma Reynolds wins Senate seat!

We now have a senator in the family! My mom won her election last night and in January will be starting her first term as senator. We are so excited and proud for her. Ryan and I drove up to Iowa last night to spend the night with her and the rest of my family. It was a fun and intense night as we waited for all of the numbers to come in. Finally a little before 12 they declared her the winner!!
