Gavin Soccer

Gavin just finished his last soccer game last Saturday.  It's been so fun to watch him play this sport.  So far it's his favorite and he was definitely more aggressive this year scoring several goals and blocking goals as the goalie for his team.  The last game was super fun as they had music and a banner for the kids to run through and then a pizza party at then end.  His brothers and sister even had fun watching him play and it's so nice that we can just walk to the field from our house.

Lincoln potty training

We've finally potty trained Lincoln.  This kid was interesting because he was completely anti-potty leading up to it but he needed to be potty trained for preschool so I couldn't put it off any longer.  We teased him that if you weren't potty trained by your third birthday that instead of presents you get diapers and he just said yay i want diapers lol.  We tried pull-ups for a day and he just treated those like a diaper so i knew i would have to do the 3 day method and just put him directly into underwear.
We started over 2 weeks ago and that first day was rough.  The first few hours were the longest in my life since you have to watch them like a hawk and rush them to the potty as soon as they start going so they can finish in the potty and start to get the hang of it.  It was a little stressful also being home with 3 other kids and we had lots of little accidents that morning but were making good progress by the end of the day.  He was going potty but would just do a few dribbles and then immediately want to get off so we had to work on draining our bladder but he started to get the hang of it and was so excited when he would go in the potty and keep his underwear dry.

We are starting on week three and although we are still working on pooping in the potty consistently i'm very impressed with how well he's doing going potty and staying dry.  He even told us that he needed to go potty twice the other day when we were swimming so hopefully it will just continue to get easier and he'll start to go more independently.  The below pictures are from the end of the first day.  He looks so cute in underwear :).

Some funny sayings from Lincoln.  One day while on the potty he said in the cutest voice after peeing "yay, i'm potty training!".  Also, after going poop and pee for the first time in the potty he said "yay I did a double" lol.

Fishing and Iowa Cubs

I am way behind on blogging so there will be lots of updates coming now that i have all the pictures off my phone :).

Two weeks ago my parents picked up the boys and took them to my grandparents house for the day.  They had SO much fun fishing and riding around on the gator.  They are still talking about it today and how many fish they caught and the different types.  Apparently their place is the place to be because they each caught between 15-20 fish.  Lincoln was also newly potty trained which is why he's in his undies in some of the pics lol.

We also headed to the Iowa Cubs game the following Monday with the family.  I was really debating whether to go because Gavin and Wyatt had an awful day (I made them do chores all afternoon :)) but i'm glad we did because everyone had such a good time.  The weather was perfect and although we only stayed for about half the game because it was a late one all the kids did great sitting and watching the game. Lincoln was so cute too because he just loved Cubbie.  He went up to him and gave him the biggest hug but of course i didn't have my phone with me to get a picture.
