9 months!

Wyatt is now 9 months old! Still army crawling everywhere and getting into everything and is really working on pushing up on his knees and rocking back and forth so I’m sure he will be crawling on his hands and knees within the next month. He has also become a little chatterbox which is fun. He says dada all the time and has said mama a few times. Loves baby food and will eat pretty much anything and has also tried mum mum crackers and puffs and likes working on getting those in his mouth. Lately he hasn’t been sleeping the greatest so I’m hoping it’s just because of his cold and once that clears up we can all get some more sleep at night. He’s also almost completely transitioned to formula and thankfully he’s finally drinking it really well. I was a little worried when we tried to start the transition around 7 months and he was pretty much refusing the formula. We have his checkup on Monday and I can’t wait to see how much he’s grown. We’ve been busy over the last month. Below are some new pictures including a visit to the pumpkin patch, park and lots of playtime and walks around the neighborhood. I also loaded a family pictures 2011 album in the Picasa link if you want to check out some more of our pictures.

Update - 9 month check up stats:
Height - 29 3/4 (90%), Weight - 20 lbs 12 ozs (50%), Head - 17 3/4 (75%).

Family Pictures

A couple of weekends ago we got family pictures taken and below are a few of the boys that I love! They actually did surprisingly well considering that they both were refusing to take a nap beforehand so Wyatt finally fell asleep in the car and therefore was a little in a daze for his photos and Gavin finally fell asleep but really late so we had to wake him up halfway through which resulted in lots of tears but nothing that a little popcorn and movie in the car couldn’t clear up thankfully! We even got to explore a new park we’d never been too and have been back since.

8 months!

So we officially have a crawler!! We knew it was coming soon and this week Wyatt has really started to army crawl and scotch himself all over the place. Definitely time to do some baby proofing as he is into everything the little stinker! This little guy is always on the move and so so curious about everything around him. It’s so hard to even hold him sometimes because he just wants to jump out of your arms and explore his surroundings.

He has been eating much better and sleeping has improved some from before. We moved him out of our room and actually moved his crib in the guest bedroom because we didn’t want him waking up Gavin all the time so that has helped. He still wakes up several times a night but is now getting better about putting himself back to sleep. The transition to daycare has also gone really well. I really like his teachers and he seems to really enjoy getting to play with the other little kids. They did their first art project the other day which was to put their feet in paint to make something and his teacher said that he loved it and giggled the entire time.

On Gavin’s front he is finally interested in using the potty! I thought the day would never come. We bought him one of those seats that sits on the toilet and would try to get him to sit on it but it was never very strudy and so he was always scared when he got up there so we finally went out and got him his own potty and he loves it. His teachers at school have also been helping a ton to get him interested and I think it helps that he sees all his friends go potty. He has done really well so far and usually goes potty 3-4 times a day at school and 1-2 times at home. I think we are still a ways off from actually getting underware but at least I think we’ll make my goal of getting him potty trained by the time he’s 3.

Enjoy some new pictures of the boys! They are getting so big and growing so fast! Just looking at pictures of Gavin from a few months ago and I can’t believe how much he has even changed. He just looks so much older and has thinned out a lot.

Busy, busy weekend

We had another fun but very busy weekend that started off quite interesting. We took off Friday and headed up to Iowa and on the way up our tire blew out. Luckily the car handled it very well and we just happened to be right by an exit so Ryan was able to pull off and get it changed quickly but we did have to completely unpack our very packed car and then reload everything back up after the tire was switched out. Luckily Ryan has had to change a tire in my car before so he knew just what to do and the boys were amazing through the whole event. Once we got to Iowa we headed to Keith and Jan’s for naps and some playtime and then met my mom down at the capital to get a tour and show Gavin where she works. He loved getting to see her office and run around the capital and still talks about getting to go to Grandma’s big building. Below are some pictures and a cute video of Gavin from the visit.

On Saturday we headed up to Ames for the Iowa State/Iowa game. Derek and Jenny were there with their kids and then Jen brought Avrie so Gavin had lots of playmates. It was a beautiful day for the game and both boys did really great and we were able to stay for the entire game and what a great game it was!! It was cute because Cy came to visit us during the game and we were trying to get Gavin and Avrie to take a picture with him but there were both a little shy/scared so we never ended up getting one but after he left Gavin was watching the game and said hey there’s that bird and then wanted to spot him the entire game and still talks about Cy. Maybe next game we can get his picture with him now that he’s warmed up a little bit. After the game Gavin and Wyatt passed out in the car on the way to Des Moines and then Gavin had fun playing with Will and Addie the rest of the night. It was so great to get to spend some time with them since we don’t get to see them very often.

On Sunday we had Wyatt’s baptism and are so thankful for all the family members that were able to attend his ceremony and be part of his special day. He did so great through it all and didn’t even cry when he got the water poured on his head. After a fun afternoon of celebrating and lots of eating we headed home and both Gavin and Wyatt must have been pretty worn out from the weekend because they both slept the entire way home!!

Labor day weekend

We had a great Labor day weekend back in Iowa. We celebrated Avrie’s 3rd birthday on Saturday and her and Gavin had a blast with each other. They just ran around chasing each other and copying what the other was doing it was so funny. Gavin was on quite the sugar rush by the end of the night. He kept sneaking cake pops from the table and I thought he had only had two but sounds like he probably had at least 4. I finally moved the plate towards the center of the table so he couldn’t reach it and told him no more since we hadn’t even ate dinner yet and he circled the table about 5 times trying to figure out how he could reach those things.

It just amazes me how much they can understand and process even at this age. My parents got Avrie a bike for her birthday and Gavin was at their house when they set it up so he got to play with it a little bit and see how cool it was so when they brought it out for her at the end of the night you could tell that he was definitely wanting to play with it and thinking it should be his so I whispered in his ear that it was for Avrie’s birthday and that maybe he could get his own bike for his birthday in a few months and he says out loud for everyone to hear in the cutest sad voice I want it to be my birthday now. I asked him the other day what he wanted for his birthday to see if he would remember and maybe say a bike but he said presents and I said what kind of presents and he said new presents lol. His birthday should be fun this year!

On Sunday my parents, Jess, and Jen, Jason and the kids joined us at the blank park zoo. It was perfect weather for a zoo trip and we had a great time. We wanted to take Gavin because it was the last weekend for the dinosaur exhibit and we thought he would love to see them since he is so obsessed with dinosaurs but his reaction wasn’t quite what we were expecting. We walked in the exhibit and he was terrified and just wanted to get out of there immediately. They were really big and moved so it was a little intimidating and we kept telling him that they were just pretend and not real. After that we went through the rest of the zoo and Gavin loved the lions, tigers and train ride. We were getting ready to leave when Gavin decided that he wanted to go see the scary T-Rex again so we thought ok he’s processed that they aren’t real and will actually walk around and look at each one this time so we headed back towards the dinos but didn’t have much luck this time either lol. Although he still wanted to walk through he clung to me and when we got near the T-Rex he yelled he’s going to bite me really loud so we had to show him again that they were just pretend and pretty much got out of there. Although he definitely didn’t have the reaction we were expecting it’s funny because if you ask him about it he’ll still say that he liked seeing the dino’s at the zoo and his favorite was the scary T-Rex.

I forgot my camera so I didn’t really get any pictures of the b-day party and only captured a few pictures at the zoo from my phone. We are heading back up to Iowa again this weekend and are excited to see Derek and Jenny and their kids.

7 months

Some updates on Wyatt at 7 months:
-still rolls everywhere and loves it and is getting much better at sitting unsupported
-isn’t saying any two syllable words yet but does lots of shrieks, squeals and screams and has recently started making the mmm sound so I’m wondering if maybe mama will be first. We’ll see!
-Loves jumping in his jumparoo and standing up. Sometimes it hard to get him to sit because it you try to put him down he will immediately put his legs out to stand and then will just jump/bounce in your arms.
-Loves baby food. So far he’s tried peas, carrots, squash, prunes and pears and has loved them all. The only one he hasn’t like is sweet potato which is also the only baby food that Gavin wouldn’t eat either.
-no teeth yet but lots of drool and chewing on toys
-he’s getting more hair and when it’s wet it curls so it will be interesting to see if any of that curl stays when it gets longer
-is super tickilous especially when you blow raspberries on his belly or sides

Our biggest issues right now are with eating and sleeping. Lately he’s decided that he just doesn’t want to eat much of his bottles during the day and sometimes it’s hard to get him to take more than 2-3 ozs at a time which is quite the change from Gavin who would chug 8 ozs in about 2 minutes lol. I guess he’s just going to be our little skinny guy! Our other big challenge lately is sleeping at night. This little guy has decided all of the sudden that he needs to wake up a lot during the night sometimes as often as every hour which is no fun for us. It’s getting a little better and he does have some good days where he will give us a couple of hours in between so hopefully we can get back to a better schedule soon.

It’s hard to believe our baby is getting so big and we have lots of changes coming up. He has two ½ days at day care next week and then will start full time after labor day so hopefully he will adjust well. I think I’m more concerned with getting two boys ready and out the door at a decent time and how Gavin will adjust vs. Wyatt but hopefully he will surprise me and things will go smoothly :).

Here’s some recent picts of the boys:
